Zurich, Switzerland – Web Desk: The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has extended an invitation to Iran for high-level talks regarding its participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to Arab media reports, FIFA has invited the Iran Football Federation to its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, to finalize discussions related to Iran’s involvement in the upcoming tournament.
The meeting, scheduled to take place by May 20, will focus on Iran’s participation, security arrangements, and administrative requirements amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have raised uncertainty over the team’s status.
FIFA officials are reportedly working to ensure all logistical and security concerns are addressed ahead of the tournament.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has previously stated that Iran is expected to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2026 and play its matches in the United States as scheduled.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Iran’s participation remains a key focus of international attention as preparations continue.
