Date:

Atlanta, USA – Web Desk: FIFA has intensified its crackdown on hate speech and abusive content during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, removing hundreds of thousands of social media posts and comments since the tournament began.

According to the global football governing body, more than 388,000 pieces of content have been deleted since June 11 after being identified as harmful, abusive, or hate-related.

FIFA said it has analyzed approximately 3.8 million social media posts linked to the tournament so far. As part of a broader monitoring effort, more than 250 million posts and comments were reviewed across various digital platforms, with over 30 million flagged as potentially harmful or hate-based content.

The announcement coincided with a special event organized by FIFA, TikTok, and the City of Atlanta to mark the International Day for Countering Hate Speech.

The gathering brought together football players, policymakers, technology experts, and community leaders to discuss strategies for combating online abuse and promoting respect and inclusion through sport.

Participants emphasized football’s role in fostering unity, diversity, and positive social values, while reaffirming their commitment to taking practical steps against hate speech and discriminatory behavior online.
