RAWALPINDI, Pakistan — Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Asim Munir, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to supporting federal and provincial governments, stressing that coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy are essential for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity.
Speaking during an interactive session with participants of the National Security Workshop–27 (NSW–27) at General Headquarters (GHQ), Munir highlighted the fluid regional environment shaped by heightened geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism, and hybrid threats. Despite these challenges, he underscored the professionalism and resolve of Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions in safeguarding national security.
Munir declared Pakistan “a country of consequence” destined to achieve its rightful place among nations. He noted that the Armed Forces’ performance during Marka-e-Haq enhanced Pakistan’s global stature, adding: “Our greatest strength lies in national unity, and together, we shall defeat the nefarious designs of our foes, Insha’Allah.”
Participants were briefed on ongoing national efforts against smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and organized crime, as well as enhanced border controls and the repatriation of illegal foreigners. Munir reiterated that the territorial integrity, security, and protection of every Pakistani citizen remain paramount and will not be compromised.
The NSW–27 program, organized by the National Defence University (NDU), brings together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officers, academics, and civil society representatives to discuss national security challenges and strategies.
