Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Former Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry has sharply criticized the Punjab government for purchasing an 11-billion-rupee luxury aircraft, while Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was sold for 10 billion rupees.
Speaking on the talk show Sham-e-Ramzan, Chaudhry remarked that the Punjab government could have opted for a more modest plane, but instead spent 11 billion rupees on a luxury model. He also compared the aircraft’s seating to the number of seats won by the PML-N in elections, suggesting that if Maryam Nawaz had not taken the plane, the Ramadan package could have cost 12 billion rupees less.
Chaudhry further criticized the government, saying Pakistan is operating under a de facto monarchy system, highlighting that even construction at Jati Umra was funded with public money. He emphasized that the federal policy discourages government-run businesses, noting that the government neither operates an airline nor is in a position to do so efficiently.
