Fakhar Zaman becomes first Pakistani to hit 100 T20I sixes

Date:

The Pakistan opener reached the milestone against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, but his record-breaking innings ended at 12 runs as the visitors won the final T20I by eight wickets.

Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has become the first Pakistani batter to hit 100 sixes in men’s Twenty20 International cricket, reaching the landmark during the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

The left-handed batter entered the match with 99 sixes in his T20I career. He reached the milestone by hitting Sri Lankan fast bowler Binura Fernando over deep midwicket.

Fakhar completed the record in his 113th T20I innings, adding a significant achievement to his international career. However, he was dismissed shortly afterwards for 12 runs off seven deliveries.

Fakhar Zaman Leads Pakistan’s T20I Six-Hitting List

Fakhar’s achievement puts him at the top of Pakistan’s all-time list for sixes in men’s T20 internationals.

Mohammad Rizwan occupies second place with 95 sixes, while Sahibzada Farhan is third with 81. Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam follows with 80, and former all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez completes the top five with 76.

Most Sixes for Pakistan in Men’s T20 Internationals

  1. Fakhar Zaman — 100 sixes
  2. Mohammad Rizwan — 95 sixes
  3. Sahibzada Farhan — 81 sixes
  4. Babar Azam — 80 sixes
  5. Mohammad Hafeez — 76 sixes

The figures reflect the reported career totals following Fakhar’s achievement against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Lose Final T20I Despite Fakhar’s Milestone

Fakhar’s record was one of the main individual highlights of the match, but Pakistan could not finish the contest with a victory.

After his dismissal, Pakistan lost further wickets before captain Sahibzada Farhan and Arafat Minhas helped stabilise the innings. The hosts finished on 168 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.

Sri Lanka responded with an effective run chase and secured an eight-wicket win, avoiding a whitewash in the three-match series.

The result meant Fakhar’s personal milestone came on a difficult day for Pakistan, whose batting and bowling performances were not enough to defend the total.

A Significant Milestone in Pakistan Cricket

Reaching 100 sixes in men’s T20 internationals places Fakhar among Pakistan’s leading power-hitters in the format. The landmark also reflects his attacking role at the top of the order, where quick scoring can shape a team’s momentum during the powerplay.

The record is specific to T20 internationals and should not be confused with statistics from domestic T20 leagues or other T20 competitions.

Fakhar’s achievement adds another notable entry to Pakistan’s T20I record books. His position at the top of the national six-hitting list will now be a benchmark for other Pakistani batters in the shortest international format.
