Faisalabad Development Authority Approves Rs2.99 Billion Budget for 2026–27

FAISALABAD, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) Board of Governors has unanimously approved a Rs2.99 billion budget for the financial year 2026–27, alongside the revised budget for the preceding financial year.

The decision was taken during a board meeting chaired by Faisalabad Division Commissioner Dr Imran Hamid Sheikh, with senior government officials and representatives of several Punjab departments in attendance.

FDA Board Unanimously Approves Budget

The board approved the new financial plan following a presentation of budget estimates and other agenda items by FDA Director General Chaudhry Muhammad Asif.

The meeting was conducted under the authority’s prescribed rules and regulations.

The approved budget has been described as balanced, indicating that the authority’s projected income and expenditure have been presented within an overall financial framework.

However, the detailed revenue and expenditure estimates were not disclosed in the available announcement.

Revised 2025–26 Budget Also Approved

Alongside the new financial year’s budget, the Board of Governors approved the revised financial estimates for 2025–26.

Revised budgets allow public authorities to update earlier financial plans to reflect changes in revenue, spending requirements and administrative priorities.

The figures for the revised 2025–26 budget were not provided, making it impossible to determine whether the FDA’s latest financial plan represents an increase or decrease compared with the preceding year.

Punjab Departments Participate in Meeting

Representatives of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office and several provincial government departments attended the meeting.

These included the Punjab Planning and Development Department, Housing and Urban Development Department, Local Government Department and Finance Department.

FDA Chief Engineer Mehr Ayub also participated.

Other officials present included directors Asma Mohsin, Junaid Hassan Manj, Yasar Ejaz Chattha, Asim Mahmood and Afnan Saeed Sindhu.

Their participation reflected coordination between the development authority and provincial administrative departments during the budget approval process.

Development Allocations Yet to Be Disclosed

The FDA is responsible for functions related to urban development and planning within its jurisdiction in Faisalabad.

Its financial decisions are relevant to land-use administration, development schemes and the management of authority resources.

However, the budget announcement did not provide project-specific allocations or identify new infrastructure schemes approved under the Rs2.99 billion financial plan.

It also did not disclose expected development expenditure, administrative costs, projected revenue sources or implementation deadlines.

Focus Shifts to Budget Implementation

Following the board’s approval, attention will turn to how the authority distributes and uses the approved funds during the financial year.

Further details will be needed to assess the proportion allocated to development activities compared with operational expenditure.

The confirmed development is the unanimous approval of the Rs2.99 billion FDA budget for 2026–27 and the revised budget for 2025–26. Detailed spending priorities have not yet been made available in the reported announcement.
