Court finds Tang Yijun guilty of corruption; political rights revoked, assets seized
Beijing, China – Web Desk: A Chinese court has sentenced former Justice Minister Tang Yijun to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of accepting bribes in a high-profile corruption case, according to Chinese state media.
The court ruled that Tang’s actions caused “extraordinary damage” to state interests and public welfare. Along with the life sentence, Tang Yijun has been permanently stripped of his political rights, and all his assets have been confiscated.
British media reports say the verdict comes as President Xi Jinping intensifies a sweeping nationwide anti-corruption campaign, which has recently brought several senior officials under accountability. Last month, China also confirmed investigations into top military general Zhang Youxia, marking one of the most significant probes into senior military leadership in recent years.
