EU imposes sanctions on Israeli settlers, Hamas figures

Date:

Brussels, Belgium – Web Desk: The European Union has agreed to impose sanctions on Israeli settlers and key individuals linked to Hamas, following a decision taken during a meeting of EU foreign ministers.

Under the new measures, assets of three individuals and four organizations involved in the occupation-related violence will be frozen, and travel bans will be enforced across EU member states.

The decision marks a shift in EU policy, overcoming previous political resistance from Hungary’s government led by Viktor Orban, which had earlier delayed collective action. Reports indicate that the new stance allowed the veto obstacle to be removed, enabling the sanctions package to move forward.

Meanwhile, developments on the ground continue to escalate. In Gaza, Israeli forces reportedly killed four Palestinians in recent operations, while in occupied Jerusalem, raids, arrests, and demolition of several structures were also reported.

The EU said the measures aim to address violence in the occupied Palestinian territories and reinforce accountability for actions contributing to instability in the region.
