Electoral System Declared Un-Islamic Case: 36-Year-Old Petition Set for Supreme Court Hearing

Date:

Islamabad (Web Desk): The case seeking to declare Pakistan’s electoral system as un-Islamic has been scheduled for hearing in the Supreme Court.

A five-member Shariat Appellate Bench, headed by Justice Shahid Waheed, will hear the matter on December 5.

It is noteworthy that the Shariat Appellate Bench has been reconstituted after nearly one and a half years.

The petition challenging the electoral system was originally filed 36 years ago, while the government had submitted appeals against the Shariat Court’s decision back in 1989.
