E-Challan System Launched in Karachi — Over 2,600 Violations Recorded

Karachi (Staff Report) — The Karachi Traffic Police has officially launched the E-Challan system, marking a significant step toward digital enforcement of traffic laws. Since its inauguration, a total of 2,662 electronic challans have been issued for various traffic violations across the city.

According to the official report, the breakdown of violations is as follows:

  • Over-speeding: 419 challans
  • Lane violation: 3 challans
  • Stop line violation: 4 challans
  • Seatbelt not worn: 1,535 challans
  • Red light crossing: 166 challans
  • Riding without helmet: 507 challans
  • Tinted windows: 7 challans
  • Wrong parking: 5 challans
  • No-parking zone violations: 5 challans
  • Mobile phone usage while driving: 32 challans
  • Wrong-way driving: 3 challans

On the day of launch, technical enhancements were underway to optimize the system, which is now fully operational. The DIG Traffic Syed Pir Muhammad Shah stated that the E-Challan system is a milestone in ensuring compliance with traffic laws and enhancing monitoring efficiency.

Authorities emphasized that public cooperation is essential to improve the system further. Citizens are urged to follow traffic rules to help reduce road accidents and improve urban mobility.
