Saudi Arabia Riyadh,(Web Desk) – A drone attack reportedly launched by Iran struck the Ras Tanura Refinery operated by Saudi Aramco in eastern Saudi Arabia early Monday, causing a small fire that was later brought under control, officials confirmed.
Authorities described the incident as limited in scope and said there were no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage. Emergency responders extinguished the blaze, and operations at the facility were reportedly stabilised.
The Ras Tanura refinery, located on Saudi Arabia’s Gulf coast, is one of the kingdom’s key energy infrastructure sites and plays a significant role in global oil refining and exports. Security measures around critical energy assets have been heightened in recent years amid regional tensions.
Officials said an investigation into the drone attack is underway, and security agencies are monitoring developments across the Middle East. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the strike.
The incident underscores continuing vulnerabilities in regional energy infrastructure and the broader security challenges facing the Gulf.
