DG ISPR Accuses India of Staging Another ‘False Flag’ Operation in Kashmir
RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistan’s military spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Thursday accused India of staging another “false flag” operation in Kashmir, challenging New Delhi’s account of a recent security operation and the identity of a man killed during it.
During a press conference, the Director General Inter-Services Public Relations presented a timeline of developments surrounding an Indian security operation in the Korag-Yousmarg area of Budgam.
Indian authorities identified the man killed during the operation as Mohammad Asif, also known as Hashim Moosa, while subsequent Indian media reports alleged that he had previously served in the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group.
Lt Gen Chaudhry rejected the alleged Pakistan Army connection and questioned the sequence in which information about the man’s identity and background emerged.
He said the episode began on the night of September 29, when the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps announced that a joint security operation had been launched in the general area of Korag following specific intelligence.
Indian forces said suspicious movement was detected during the operation and that an exchange of fire followed after the individuals were challenged.
The DG ISPR disputed the subsequent narrative surrounding the operation and described the episode as another alleged Indian “false flag” operation.
The military spokesperson presented details and a timeline that Pakistan says raise questions over the Indian account and the later claims linking the deceased man to Pakistan’s armed forces.
The allegations come amid continuing tensions between Pakistan and India, with Kashmir remaining one of the central disputes between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
Pakistan and India have repeatedly accused each other of involvement in security incidents and militant activity, while both sides have rejected several allegations made by the other.
The claims presented during Thursday’s briefing concern a disputed security incident and have not been independently established. Indian authorities’ account and Pakistan’s objections therefore remain competing versions of the events surrounding the operation.
