NEW YORK: President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations General Assembly, reiterating key points from his previous political speeches.
According to international news agencies, Trump began his speech by noting that he was speaking at the General Assembly after a six-year gap. He sharply criticized his predecessor Joe Biden, blaming the former Democratic administration for global crises.
Trump acknowledged the United States’ close military and political relationship with Israel but emphasized that America is making serious efforts to end the war in Gaza. “This war must end immediately. We have to act. We must negotiate for peace,” he stated.
He claimed that the ongoing conflict has claimed over 65,000 Palestinian lives and sparked global outrage and grief.
Highlighting the hostage crisis, Trump said, “We must urgently bring back all 20 hostages alive and recover the bodies of 38 others.” He stressed that further delays are unacceptable and that these issues must be resolved on a priority basis.
The U.S. President accused Hamas of repeatedly wasting “reasonable opportunities for peace,” which, according to him, prolonged the conflict.
Trump criticized Western nations for recognizing Palestine, arguing that such decisions reward Hamas and fuel further distrust in the region.
He asserted that had he been president, the Gaza-Israel and Russia-Ukraine wars would not have started. “I stopped seven wars when I became president,” he claimed. He also said he had prevented a potential nuclear war between Israel and Iran.
Declaring illegal immigration a global threat, Trump stated that undocumented migrants are not only harming the United States but also destabilizing other countries around the world.
