ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that if the relationship between Rawalpindi and Islamabad had been like it is today over the past 75 years, many milestones would have been achieved.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Asif said that a year ago Pakistan fought another war in which the armed forces made the nation proud. He noted that the country is also fighting a war on the economic front, and if the entire nation unites against terrorism, this war can be won.
Asif thanked US leadership for recognizing “decades of injustices” against Iran. He said he would urge Gulf brothers to set aside differences so they can play a role for the Muslims of Gaza and Palestine. He noted that Pakistan had perhaps never received such honor before, and that the Prime Minister and Field Marshal resolved the matter in a way that unprecedented respect was achieved for Pakistan.
The Defence Minister said that if such unity between Rawalpindi and Islamabad had existed over the past 75 years, many milestones would have been achieved. He congratulated Iranian brothers for dealing with the war with such resolve, stating that if this unity continues, the Palestine issue will also be resolved.
