Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab) has arrested 16 suspected militants, including a suicide bomber, during a series of intelligence-based operations across multiple cities in Punjab.
According to a CTD spokesperson, a total of 113 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) were carried out in cities including Khushab, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Bhakkar, Lahore, Faisalabad, Chakwal, Toba Tek Singh, Hafizabad, and Gujranwala.
Authorities said one of the key suspects, identified as Ghazi Marjan, was arrested in Jhang along with a suicide vest and explosive materials. Another suspect, Maley Khan, allegedly involved in attacks on sensitive installations, was detained in Sargodha.
Officials stated that the suspects had finalized plans to target police checkpoints, but timely operations thwarted the plots.
Security forces also recovered explosive materials, suicide jackets, 14 detonators, 25 feet of safety fuse wire, banned literature, stickers, and cash during the raids.
The arrested individuals were identified as Ghazi Marjan, Moeen Khan, Aseel Din, Nasir Shah, Naseeb Khan, Abrar, Yousaf, Maley Khan, Osama, among others.
In addition, authorities conducted 2,830 combing operations during the week, questioning over 95,755 individuals and detaining 190 suspects.
CTD officials reaffirmed that counterterrorism operations will continue across the province to eliminate militant threats and ensure public safety.
