China Warns Middle East War Threatens Strait of Hormuz Stability

Date:

Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has warned that the ongoing war in the Middle East could destabilize the Strait of Hormuz, a key global energy passage, emphasizing that no country should impose unilateral control or levy conditions on maritime routes.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the U.S. and Israel’s attacks on Iran violate international law. He noted that he has consulted with counterparts in the European Union, Germany, and Saudi Arabia on the matter. Wang stressed that the UN Security Council must play an effective role in preventing further escalation.

Highlighting the strategic impact of the conflict, Wang warned that the Strait of Hormuz would remain unstable as long as the war continues. In a phone call with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, both leaders called for an immediate ceasefire.

Earlier, Germany’s Foreign Minister spoke with Wang Yi, with both sides agreeing on the urgent need to restore stability and ensure free passage through the Strait. Germany’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Berlin and Beijing support the resumption of unrestricted maritime navigation and agreed that no single country should exert control over the route or impose transit levies.

China has pledged to use its influence to encourage Iran to pursue negotiations and reduce tensions with Gulf nations, aiming for a diplomatic resolution to the crisis.
