China to Dispatch Middle East Envoy for Mediation as Regional Tensions Rise

Date:

(Web Desk) – Beijing, China has announced plans to send a special envoy to the Middle East to support mediation efforts as regional tensions intensify, according to statements from the country’s foreign ministry.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi conveyed the decision during separate phone calls with counterparts in Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The ministry reported that China values Saudi Arabia’s approach of restraint and its commitment to resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.

In discussions with UAE officials, Wang emphasized that protecting civilians in conflict zones must remain a “red line.” He stressed that non-military targets—including energy infrastructure and shipping routes—should not be attacked, highlighting the importance of safeguarding global trade and humanitarian principles.

China also reiterated its condemnation of the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, describing the incident as a serious violation of Iran’s sovereignty and international norms. Beijing urged all parties to halt military operations and exercise maximum restraint to prevent further escalation.

The proposed mediation initiative reflects China’s broader diplomatic engagement in the region and its call for peaceful solutions to ongoing conflicts.
