Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has confirmed an agreement to purchase more than 200 American aircraft following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Beijing, marking a major development in bilateral trade ties.
According to China’s Ministry of Commerce, the two sides reached an understanding on the purchase of U.S.-made aircraft, along with agreements on the supply of jet engines and related aerospace components from the United States.
Chinese media reported that both countries also agreed to continue cooperation in the aviation sector, signaling broader engagement in aerospace trade and investment.
President Trump said earlier that the initial deal includes at least 200 aircraft to be purchased from Boeing, while General Electric is expected to supply engines for around 450 aircraft. Boeing has also confirmed progress in its engagement with China and acknowledged the preliminary agreement.
Chinese authorities have not yet confirmed the total value or final number of aircraft involved in the deal. However, Trump suggested the agreement could eventually expand to as many as 750 aircraft.
The announcement follows high-level meetings between U.S. business leaders and Chinese officials during Trump’s visit, focused on trade and investment cooperation.
Analysts say that if finalized, this would be Boeing’s largest order from China since 2017, when a deal for around 300 aircraft worth approximately $37 billion was signed.
Experts view the development as a potential sign of easing trade tensions and renewed momentum in the global aviation market.
