By-elections: PML-N secures key victories in National and Punjab Assembly constituencies

Islamabad: Unofficial and incomplete results of by-elections across 6 National Assembly and 7 Punjab Assembly constituencies have started to emerge, with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) securing significant wins. The party has claimed victory in two National Assembly seats — NA-129 (Lahore) and NA-143 (Sahiwal) — along with one Punjab Assembly seat, PP-203 (Sahiwal).

Polling was conducted in 13 constituencies across Haripur, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Mianwali, and Muzaffargarh. According to the Election Commission and local administration, a total of 2,792 polling stations were established, of which 408 were declared highly sensitive and 1,032 sensitive. To ensure law and order, more than 20,000 security personnel were deployed.

National Assembly Constituencies

  • NA-185, Dera Ghazi Khan:
    From 108 polling stations, PML-N’s Mahmood Qadir Laghari leads with 40,527 votes, while PPP’s Sardar Dost Muhammad Khosa trails with 19,008 votes. This seat was vacated following the disqualification of PTI’s Zartaj Gul in the May 9 case.
  • NA-143, Sahiwal:
    With all 442 polling stations counted, PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Tufail Jutt has secured 136,313 votes. Independent candidate Zarar Akbar stands second with 13,120 votes.
  • NA-18, Haripur:
    Results from 161 polling stations show PML-N’s Babar Nawaz leading with 44,707 votes, while independent candidate Shehrnaz has 28,469 votes. The seat was vacated after PTI’s Omar Ayub was disqualified in the May 9 case.
  • NA-129, Lahore:
    PML-N’s Hafiz Nauman has won with 63,441 votes. PTI-backed independent candidate managed 29,099 votes.
  • NA-96, Faisalabad:
    Out of 153 polling stations, PML-N’s Bilal Chaudhry leads with 63,957 votes, while independent candidate Nawab Sher Waseer has 21,067 votes. This seat was vacated after PTI’s Rai Haider Ali Kharal was disqualified.

Punjab Assembly Constituencies

  • PP-203, Sahiwal:
    All 185 polling stations report PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Hanif Jutt ahead with 46,820 votes. Independent candidate Falak Sher Dogar trails with 10,975 votes. Voter turnout was recorded at 23 percent.
  • PP-269, Muzaffargarh:
    PPP’s Mian Almdar Qureshi leads with 23,227 votes, while independent candidate Iqbal Patafi has 13,444 votes.
  • PP-87, Mianwali:
    Ali Haider Noor Khan leads with 44,944 votes, while Nawabzada Ayaz Khan trails with 2,622 votes.
  • PP-98, Faisalabad:
    PML-N’s Azad Ali Tabassum is ahead with 28,907 votes, while independent candidate Muhammad Ajmal Cheema has 20,401 votes.
  • PP-115, Faisalabad:
    PML-N’s Muhammad Tahir Pervaiz leads with 12,431 votes, while independent candidate Muhammad Asghar has 2,012 votes.
  • PP-73, Sargodha:
    PML-N’s Sultan Ali Ranjha leads with 28,704 votes, while independent candidate Haris Ranjha has 4,091 votes.
  • PP-116, Faisalabad:
    Vote counting is still underway.

Security & Administration

Polling was held from 8 AM to 5 PM under tight security arrangements. The administration declared several polling stations sensitive and deployed over 20,000 security personnel to maintain peace.
