Bilawal Bhutto says Pakistan Army is ‘Our Red Line’

Date:

PPP chairman praises the armed forces for defending the country while also urging the Election Commission to transparently address complaints over AJK elections.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — WEB DESK: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has described the Pakistan Army as the nation’s “red line,” saying soldiers defending the country’s borders should not become the subject of political disputes.

In a video statement shared on social media platform X, Bilawal said Pakistani soldiers stationed along the Kashmir border risk their lives every day to safeguard the country.

“I have said before that Pakistan’s Army is our red line,” he said.

Tribute to soldiers and martyrs

Bilawal said members of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies are a source of national pride and should be treated with respect.

He paid tribute to military personnel and police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty, saying their sacrifices would never be forgotten.

The PPP chairman added that every sacrifice deserved recognition and pledged that the families of martyrs should receive justice and respect.

Calls for transparent election process

In a separate video statement issued earlier, Bilawal urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold open hearings on complaints relating to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) elections before August 2.

He called on the ECP to make polling station results and election records publicly available, arguing that the commission’s constitutional responsibility is to protect the votes of the people rather than favour any political party.

Bilawal also said the credibility of the second phase of the AJK elections would depend on whether complaints from the first phase were addressed fairly and transparently.
