(Web Desk) – In a significant breakthrough for regional aviation, Pakistan has approved direct passenger flights by Bangladeshi airlines, marking a fresh chapter in air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the start of the new year.
According to official sources, following formal government approval, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted permission to Bangladeshi airlines to operate direct flights to Karachi.
The decision represents an important step toward restoring long-suspended direct air links between the two countries.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines
CAA sources confirmed that Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been allowed to operate direct flights from Dhaka to Karachi. Initially, the approval has been granted until March 30, 2026, after which the arrangement may be reviewed.
Under the new arrangement, Bangladeshi airlines have also been permitted to use Pakistan’s airspace through officially approved routes.
CAA sources emphasized that Biman Bangladesh Airlines must strictly adhere to the designated flight paths while operating within Pakistani airspace.
Slot allocation at Karachi airport
In another key development, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been granted a dedicated slot at Karachi airport. Before departing from Dhaka, the airline will be required to submit complete flight details to the Karachi Airport Administration, ensuring operational coordination and security compliance.
Aviation officials believe the resumption of direct air connectivity will benefit both Pakistan and Bangladesh by improving travel convenience, strengthening people-to-people ties, and supporting trade and business travel.
