Pakistan cricketers gain ground in the latest ICC Test rankings after notable performances against West Indies.
Web Desk: Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam, batter Shan Masood and fast bowler Mohammad Abbas have moved up in the latest ICC Test rankings after impressive individual performances during the opening Test against the West Indies.
Despite Pakistan suffering a 90-run defeat in the first Test of the series, several players earned ranking improvements due to their personal performances. Babar Azam climbed four places in the ICC Test batting rankings, moving from 19th to 15th position with 686 rating points.
Shan Masood made one of the biggest gains among Pakistan batters, rising eight places from 44th to 36th after scoring a century in the first Test against the West Indies. The left-handed opener now has 590 rating points in the latest rankings update.
Mohammad Abbas was the standout performer among Pakistan bowlers, making a significant jump in the ICC Test bowling rankings. The experienced right-arm pacer moved up nine places from 26th to 17th position with 690 rating points.
Other Pakistan players saw mixed results in the updated rankings. Saud Shakeel dropped three places to 24th, while Mohammad Rizwan slipped eight positions to 26th. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha also moved down four places to 32nd.
Among Pakistan bowlers, spinner Noman Ali maintained his seventh position in the rankings, while Shaheen Shah Afridi dropped four places to 29th. Sajid Khan also slipped one position to 35th.
Australia’s Travis Head continues to lead the ICC Test batting rankings, followed by England’s Harry Brook and Joe Root. In bowling, India’s Jasprit Bumrah remains the top-ranked Test bowler, with New Zealand’s Matt Henry and Australia’s Mitchell Starc behind him.
The ranking improvements provide a positive boost for Pakistan’s Test squad as the team looks to recover from the opening-match defeat and strengthen its position in the ongoing series.
