LAHORE – Web Desk: The Australian cricket team is dreaming of winning an ODI series in Pakistan for the first time since 1998, as the third and final match of the three-match series takes place today in Lahore.
Australia has not won an ODI series in Pakistan since 1998, a period that also includes a 24-year gap when Australia did not play cricket in Pakistan at all. On the other hand, Pakistan has lost only one bilateral ODI series at home since 2015.
Australia lost their last two ODI series against Pakistan (both home and away) 1-2, but the poor form of Pakistan’s senior batsmen this time could present Australia with their best opportunity. Australia’s Nathan Ellis has become a nemesis for Babar Azam in recent times, having dismissed him three times in just five ODI matches — a record that places him among a select group of bowlers who have dismissed Babar that many times in a single format.
