Ashley Noffke Resigns as Pakistan Bowling Coach, Set for Netherlands Role
LAHORE, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Australian coach Ashley Noffke has resigned as Pakistan’s white-ball bowling coach after approximately 16 months in the role, with the 2026 Asian Games set to be his final assignment with the national side.
Noffke has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of his decision to step down from his coaching responsibilities, according to multiple Pakistani reports citing sources. The PCB has subsequently begun the process of finding a new bowling coach.
The Australian will remain with Pakistan for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan before ending his association with the national team. The PCB’s latest official pre-departure camp announcement confirms Noffke as bowling coach in Pakistan’s support staff for the tournament.
Pakistan’s men’s cricket team is scheduled to depart Karachi for Japan on September 24. Sahibzada Farhan is leading the squad, with Abdul Samad serving as vice-captain.
Noffke’s next destination has also become clear. The Netherlands have appointed him head coach of their men’s national team on a two-year contract, providing context for his departure from Pakistan.
The PCB has meanwhile started its search for Noffke’s successor. Candidates for the bowling coach position can submit applications until October 8, according to current reporting.
Noffke joined Pakistan’s coaching setup in May 2025 and has worked primarily with the white-ball team. He was recently handed additional responsibility with the Test side during Pakistan’s tour of England.
That Test assignment followed major changes to Pakistan’s coaching structure during the England series. On August 31, the PCB announced that bowling coach Umar Gul had been released and Noffke would join the Test backroom staff alongside Mike Hesson.
The International Cricket Council also documented the coaching changes, which came as Pakistan reshuffled both its playing squad and backroom staff during the England series.
Noffke, a former Australian all-rounder, represented his country in one ODI and two T20 internationals during his playing career. His move to the Netherlands will give him responsibility for an entire men’s national programme rather than a specialist bowling role.
For Pakistan, the immediate priority is the Asian Games, where Noffke remains part of the coaching staff. His replacement as bowling coach is expected to be selected after the PCB completes its recruitment process.
