Armed Robot Dogs Debut in China-Cambodia Joint Military Drills

Date:

Beijing, China – Web Desk: China has unveiled a new addition to its military arsenal: armed robot dogs. The four-legged robots, equipped with automatic rifles on their backs, were featured during the joint “Golden Dragon” military exercises between China and Cambodia .

Role in Urban Warfare

According to Chinese state media, these robot dogs are designed for roles such as surveillance, reconnaissance, and, in some cases, direct engagement in urban environments . They are intended to conduct tasks like initial reconnaissance in hazardous areas, reducing risks for human soldiers, and navigating buildings and confined spaces to gather information .

Integration with Other Systems

The robots can also operate in coordination with other unmanned systems, such as drones .

Future Implications

While defense experts acknowledge these robots represent a leap in modern technology, they note that discussions regarding their practical application, reliability, and ethical and legal implications are still ongoing .
