AJK President, Chief Justice Stress Institutional Respect and Rule of Law

MUZAFFARABAD, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi and AJK Supreme Court Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan have stressed the importance of mutual respect among state institutions, constitutional governance and strengthening the rule of law.

The two officials exchanged views on matters concerning the judiciary, constitutional institutions and the administration of justice during a meeting in Muzaffarabad.

They emphasised that state institutions should perform their responsibilities within their respective constitutional domains while maintaining cooperation and respect for one another.

The discussions also highlighted the importance of an independent judiciary and effective legal institutions in ensuring justice and protecting citizens’ rights.

Both sides underlined the need to strengthen public confidence in institutions through adherence to constitutional and legal principles.

The meeting comes shortly after Dr Najeeb Naqi assumed office as the 23rd President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Naqi took the oath of office on September 24 after securing 32 votes in the presidential election. Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan administered the oath at the President House in Muzaffarabad.

The AJK chief justice has also recently highlighted the importance of judicial reform and cooperation between judges and lawyers in improving the administration of justice.

He has maintained that strong professional ties between the legal communities of Pakistan and AJK can contribute to institutional development and a more effective justice system.

Justice Khan has also highlighted reforms introduced within the AJK judiciary and credited judicial teams with improving the disposal of cases.

Institutional cooperation and respect for constitutional boundaries remain significant elements of governance, particularly where the executive, legislature and judiciary exercise separate responsibilities.

The latest meeting highlighted a shared emphasis on institutional stability, constitutional responsibility and strengthening the justice system in AJK.

Both officials expressed their commitment to supporting measures aimed at reinforcing the rule of law and ensuring that institutions continue to function within the constitutional framework.
