Airspace closed over Iran, Iraq, Damascus, and Syria

Date:

Tehran / Baghdad / Damascus – Web Desk: Airspace over Iran, Iraq, and parts of Syria has been temporarily closed amid escalating regional tensions, according to official and international media reports.

Iran has shut its western airspace indefinitely, while Iraq has also closed its airspace temporarily as a precautionary measure, aviation authorities confirmed.

In Syria, authorities suspended operations in the southern airspace for 12 hours and temporarily halted operations at Damascus International Airport.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem issued a security advisory urging staff and their families to shelter in safe locations amid heightened security concerns.

The developments come after reports of renewed Israeli strikes on Iran, despite international calls for restraint. Iranian media reported explosions in Tehran, Tabriz, and Isfahan, with additional blasts near Karaj.

Israel’s military said it carried out strikes on military targets in western and central Iran in response to recent Iranian attacks, further intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.

The coordinated airspace closures and military exchanges have raised concerns about broader disruptions to regional air traffic and the risk of further escalation.
