RAWALPINDI – In a significant intelligence-based operation, Pakistani security forces neutralized 10 terrorists in the Kulachi area of Dera Ismail Khan, including Aalam Mehsud, the notorious ringleader of the banned outfit Fitnat-ul-Khawarij. The operation, launched after credible intelligence reports of militant presence, also left four terrorists injured.
Security sources confirmed that among the slain were four foreign nationals from Afghanistan. A substantial cache of arms and explosives—including suicide jackets, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and automatic weapons—was recovered from the site.
Aalam Mehsud was a high-value target, allegedly responsible for orchestrating several major attacks, including the 2008 Nawaz Kot post assault, the Bannu Jail break, and multiple strikes on military installations. His death marks a major blow to the operational capabilities of the group.
Authorities have intensified surveillance in the region to prevent retaliatory actions and to dismantle any remaining militant infrastructure. The successful operation underscores Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and maintain security in the restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
