The Bollywood actress reveals how she desperately searched for an autorickshaw while Saif was bleeding after an intruder attacked him at their Mumbai residence in January 2025.
MUMBAI: Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor has recalled the frightening moments following the knife attack on her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, revealing how she ran onto the streets in her nightwear to find an autorickshaw while he was bleeding.
The couple revisited the January 16, 2025 incident during an appearance on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan Season 9, which premiered on November 4, 2026.
Recalling the chaotic night, Kareena said she rushed outside wearing a night T-shirt and desperately tried to stop passing vehicles to arrange transport for her injured husband.
She described screaming on the road and running in search of an autorickshaw while Saif was bleeding following the attack at their Bandra residence.
Kareena also remembered seeing Saif inside the lift and struggling to process the seriousness of his injuries. Their elder son, Taimur, who witnessed the situation, asked his father whether he was going to die.
Saif was eventually taken to hospital by his son Ibrahim, accompanied by their household staff member Hari.
During the conversation, Saif revealed that he had suffered deep cuts on his neck and that a broken piece of the knife remained lodged in his back, dangerously close to his spinal cord.
He said the weapon had broken during the attack, suggesting that this may have prevented even more serious injuries. Kareena recalled doctors telling them that the injury was just one millimetre away from a critical area.
The couple also discussed the emotional impact on their children. Kareena revealed that their younger son, Jeh, had witnessed the incident and later gave his father a plastic sword, believing it could protect him if the intruder returned.
Saif also recalled how his elder son Ibrahim became extremely emotional after seeing him following surgery.
The actors addressed conspiracy theories that circulated on social media after Saif’s hospital discharge. Kareena described the speculation, including claims questioning whether the attack had been staged, as bizarre and questioned how such allegations could persist despite the police investigation and arrest of the accused.
The January 2025 attack took place when an intruder entered the couple’s Mumbai residence and stabbed Saif multiple times. The actor underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital and subsequently recovered.
The latest interview offers a personal account of the incident and highlights the fear, family distress and medical emergency experienced by the couple during that night.
