Israeli Strikes Kill Eight Palestinians in Gaza, Including Child

Date:

Israeli strikes kill eight Palestinians, including five police officers and a child, in Gaza City and Khan Younis amid ongoing ceasefire tensions.

GAZA, PALESTINE — WEB DESK: Israeli military strikes killed at least eight Palestinians, including five police officers and a child, in two separate attacks across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, November 1, as tensions continued despite a ceasefire agreement.

The attacks took place in Gaza City in the north and Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Medical sources and Gaza’s Interior Ministry reported the casualties, while several other people were wounded in the strikes.

In western Khan Younis, an Israeli strike killed five Palestinian police officers in the al-Mawasi area. Gaza’s Interior Ministry said the officers were carrying out their duties when they were targeted.

The Israeli military confirmed carrying out an operation in Khan Younis, claiming it had targeted several militants. However, it did not provide further details about the operation.

In a separate attack in Gaza City, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike. Hospital sources identified a four-year-old child among those killed in the northern part of the territory. The Israeli military did not immediately comment on this strike.

Ceasefire Faces Continued Challenges

The latest attacks have added to concerns over the durability of the US-brokered ceasefire, which took effect in October 2025.

Israel has accused Hamas of rebuilding its military capabilities and violating the agreement, while Hamas has denied those allegations and accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire.

Negotiations over the next phase of the agreement have made limited progress, particularly on Hamas disarmament, Israeli troop withdrawal and reconstruction arrangements for Gaza.

Gaza health officials say more than 1,500 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire began. The territory continues to face severe humanitarian challenges, with much of its infrastructure damaged and large numbers of residents living in temporary shelters.

The latest incident highlights the continuing difficulties in maintaining the ceasefire as diplomatic efforts to advance the agreement remain unresolved.
