PSX Rebounds as KSE-100 Gains Over 500 Points on Broad Buying

KARACHI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Buying returned to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Tuesday, pushing the benchmark KSE-100 Index more than 500 points higher as investors accumulated positions across several major sectors.

The KSE-100 Index reached 166,421.01 points by 12:38pm, gaining 553.70 points, or 0.33%, compared with the previous close of 165,867.31.

The benchmark had opened the session positively and stood around 166,414.97 points at 9:33am, representing an increase of 547.66 points.

During intraday trading, the index climbed as high as 166,785.13 points, while its session low stood at 165,651.67.

Trading activity remained active, with approximately 66.12 million shares changing hands and traded value reaching around Rs4.39 billion by midday.

Buying was spread across several heavyweight sectors rather than being concentrated in a single industry.

Automobile assemblers, cement companies, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration firms, oil marketing companies, power producers and refineries all attracted investor interest.

The positive session provided some relief after recent pressure on Pakistan equities amid domestic political uncertainty and volatility in international energy markets.

Global oil prices also moved lower during Tuesday’s trading as stronger Middle Eastern crude exports and a planned release of emergency stocks by G7 economies reduced immediate concerns about global energy supplies.

Brent crude fell below the $100-a-barrel level during Asian trading, easing some concerns over the potential economic impact of elevated international energy prices on oil-importing economies such as Pakistan.

International energy markets, however, remain sensitive to continuing security risks in the Middle East.

Corporate developments also remained in focus at the local bourse.

Sazgar Engineering Works reported four-wheeler sales of 2,474 units during August and September 2026, broadly unchanged from the corresponding period a year earlier.

By midday, buying momentum at the PSX remained intact, with the benchmark index holding firmly in positive territory.

The market’s final direction will depend on whether buying interest can be sustained through the closing session.

Investors are also closely monitoring Pakistan’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, international oil prices, domestic political developments and broader macroeconomic indicators.

Tuesday’s movement represents an intraday market update rather than the final closing performance of the KSE-100 Index.
