Security forces kill 49 militants in Balochistan, KP operations

Date:

ISPR says 37 militants were killed in Balochistan and 12 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during intelligence-based operations across eight districts.

WEB DESK: Pakistan’s security forces and police have killed 49 militants in a series of intelligence-based operations across Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to the military’s media wing, ISPR.

The operations were conducted over the past few days as part of an ongoing counterterrorism campaign, with authorities carrying out joint operations across eight districts in the two provinces.

37 militants killed in Balochistan

According to ISPR, 37 militants were killed during 10 intelligence-based operations in Balochistan.

The operations were conducted in Mastung, Mach, Khuzdar and Panjgur districts.

Security forces also recovered and destroyed weapons, explosive drums and remote-detonation equipment during the operations, ISPR said.

12 militants eliminated in KP

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12 militants were killed during multiple intelligence-based operations conducted in Bannu, North Waziristan, Orakzai and Khyber districts.

ISPR said security forces recovered and destroyed a quantity of explosives, improvised explosive device detonating remotes, weapons, ammunition and motorcycles during the operations.

The military’s media wing said police also participated in the “high-tempo joint intelligence-driven operations”.

Operations part of counterterrorism campaign

ISPR said the latest operations were part of Pakistan’s continuing counterterrorism campaign.

The development follows separate intelligence-based operations in Ziarat, Harnai and Surab districts of Balochistan earlier this week, in which security sources reported that at least nine militants were killed.

According to those security sources, ammunition, magazines, hand grenades, walkie-talkies, a motorcycle and other equipment were recovered during the earlier operations.

KP and Balochistan remain major violence hotspots

The latest operations come as Pakistan continues to face militant violence, particularly in KP and Balochistan.

A report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) cited by Geo News said the two provinces accounted for nearly 96% of violence-related fatalities recorded in Pakistan during the second quarter of 2026.

KP accounted for more than 61% of the reported fatalities, while Balochistan accounted for 34%, according to the report. KP also recorded 151 violent incidents during the period, compared with 94 in Balochistan.

The security situation in both provinces remains a major challenge for Pakistani authorities as counterterrorism operations continue.
