National Strategic Command chief receives the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) at a ceremony attended by PM Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Web Desk: President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) on Commander of the National Strategic Command General Syed Amir Raza at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the services chiefs attended the award ceremony, along with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, the Senate chairman, federal ministers and other senior officials.
The award comes shortly after Gen Raza was promoted from the rank of lieutenant general to a four-star general and appointed commander of the National Strategic Command.

Gen Raza previously served as the Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army before taking charge of the newly established National Strategic Command.
The position was created following the passage of the Pakistan Army, Air Force and Navy (Amendment) Bills 2025, according to the report.
The establishment of the National Strategic Command followed the abolition of the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC). General Shamshad Mirza was the last officer to hold the CJCSC position.
The Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) is among Pakistan’s highest civil and military honours and is awarded in recognition of distinguished service.
The ceremony brought together Pakistan’s senior political and military leadership, underscoring the significance of Gen Raza’s appointment and his new role within the country’s strategic command structure.
The development comes as Pakistan’s military leadership continues to oversee the country’s strategic and defence responsibilities under the reorganised command structure.
