KARACHI, Pakistan — WEB DESK: The Sindh Cabinet has approved an increase in the province’s minimum monthly wage to Rs43,000, a move aimed at improving workers’ welfare and helping low-income employees cope with rising living costs.
The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by the provincial leadership, where members approved revisions to labour and social welfare policies as part of broader economic measures.
Under the new decision, the minimum monthly wage for workers across Sindh has been fixed at Rs43,000, replacing the previous wage structure. The revised rate is expected to apply to eligible workers in both the public and private sectors in accordance with provincial labour laws and applicable regulations.
Provincial authorities said the increase reflects the government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights, improving living standards and ensuring fair compensation amid persistent inflationary pressures.
Officials added that the Labour Department will oversee the implementation of the revised wage, while employers will be required to comply with the new minimum wage notification once it comes into effect.
Business and labour stakeholders are expected to review the impact of the wage increase on industries, employment and production costs, while worker representatives have welcomed the move as a positive step toward strengthening social protection.
