Iran says it will support any decision made by Palestinian leaders during negotiations as diplomatic efforts over the Gaza conflict continue.
TEHRAN, Iran — Web Desk: Iran has reaffirmed its support for decisions made by Palestinian leaders during ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza.
According to Iranian state media, President Masoud Pezeshkian made the remarks during a telephone conversation with the head of Hamas’ political bureau. He said Tehran would support any action or decision taken by Palestinian leaders as negotiations continue.
The statement comes amid renewed international diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire and broader political settlement in Gaza.
Last week, US President Donald Trump claimed that Hamas had agreed to lay down its arms following negotiations involving Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye as part of a proposed peace framework.
However, the parties remain divided over the conditions for ending the conflict. Israel maintains that it will not withdraw its forces from Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed. Hamas, on the other hand, insists it will not surrender its weapons until Israeli forces withdraw from the territory.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he does not accept President Trump’s proposed plan for Gaza, highlighting the significant differences that continue to complicate diplomatic efforts.
Despite ongoing mediation by regional and international actors, major disagreements over security arrangements and political conditions remain unresolved, leaving the future of negotiations uncertain.
