Swat Suicide Bombing Investigation: Attacker Linked to Dir, Suspected TTP Involvement

SWAT – Web Desk: Investigations into the suicide bombing near Kabal police station in Swat are ongoing, with officials confirming that the attacker has been linked to the neighboring Dir district .

The investigation team has revealed that the suicide bomber had a prior record of involvement in militant activities. Authorities have obtained the attacker’s record and are investigating his cross-border movements. According to officials, the bomber walked to the Kabal police station before detonating his explosives at the main gate .

The death toll from Sunday’s blast has risen to 17, including 7 police personnel and 10 civilians. A case has been registered, and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is leading the investigation . The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack .

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi confirmed that 17 people were martyred in the explosion. At Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital, 12 injured individuals remain under treatment, including 8 police personnel and 4 civilians . Rescue operations are ongoing with 13 ambulances and over 45 rescue workers participating .

The attack occurred during a peace rally organized by local residents and civil society groups demanding an end to renewed militant violence in the region . The bomber was stopped and searched at the police station entrance before detonating his explosives .
