TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iran has made clear that no negotiations are currently taking place with the United States, while only consultations with Oman regarding maritime traffic and management of the Strait of Hormuz are ongoing, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei.
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Baghaei said there are no negotiations between Iran and the US at present. He clarified that current contacts are only with Oman, dismissing media reports suggesting US-Iran talks as lacking any basis.
Baghaei said consultations with Oman are focused on ensuring safe maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and discussing administrative matters related to this vital waterway. He emphasized the strategic importance of the Strait for global trade and energy shipments, making regional consultations essential.
The statement comes amid recent media speculation over possible diplomatic contacts between Iran and the US. Political analysts say Tehran is currently prioritizing regional cooperation on the Strait of Hormuz rather than direct negotiations with Washington.
