Trump Claims Iran Broke Deal With Strait of Hormuz Drone Attack

Date:

Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran agreed to a deal with the United States on Saturday but allegedly launched a drone attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz within an hour of the negotiations concluding.

Speaking in an interview with NBC News, Trump said Iran had accepted what he described as a comprehensive agreement, including abandoning its nuclear programme.

“It was a great deal for us. There would be no nuclear programme. They had agreed to everything, but after leaving the room, within an hour they launched a drone attack on a ship,” Trump said.

Trump claimed that the United States responded with military action following the alleged attack.

“After the drone strike, we responded forcefully. We carried out bombing operations against Iran that same night,” he said, adding that those responsible had a “very sick mentality.”

The US president also stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to commercial shipping despite heightened regional tensions.

During the interview, Trump also spoke about the death of Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, saying he had spoken with the senator by phone just hours before his reported death on Saturday night.

“He was tired, but otherwise he seemed fine. His passing was very sudden,” Trump said.

Trump’s remarks come amid continued tensions between Washington and Tehran, with concerns growing over maritime security and stability in the Gulf region.
