Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has announced that the US naval blockade on Iran has been lifted and some frozen assets have been released following the first round of US-Iran talks in Switzerland .
In a post on X, Araghchi credited “tireless Pakistani and Qatari mediation” for delivering major progress toward ending the Lebanon war . He said sanctions on oil and petrochemical exports had been lifted, the blockade against Iran had been removed, some frozen assets had been released, and a major reconstruction and development plan for Iran had been launched .
However, Araghchi cautioned that the “first real test” of the understandings would be the establishment of a Lebanon de-confliction cell, a joint mechanism aimed at ensuring adherence to the termination of military operations in Lebanon .
The de-confliction cell, agreed upon during the Swiss summit, is designed to prevent further military escalation in Lebanon and ensure the cessation of hostilities between Israeli forces and Hezbollah .
Iran’s top diplomat emphasized that implementation of the de-confliction mechanism would be critical to demonstrating US commitment to the peace process . He also warned that Israeli violations of the agreement “will constitute a violation of US commitments” under the memorandum .
