Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran praises Pakistan’s role in US-Iran talks and ceasefire diplomacy.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, saying that Tehran-Washington talks became possible due to Islamabad’s commendable and constructive role in facilitating dialogue.
The remarks came during a meeting in Mashhad with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who was on an urgent visit to Iran. The meeting focused on the US-Iran discussions scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 21, in Switzerland.
According to Iranian state media, President Pezeshkian appreciated Pakistan’s contribution to the ceasefire diplomacy between the United States and Iran, acknowledging Islamabad’s efforts in supporting regional stability and negotiations.
He said Pakistan’s “responsible and brotherly diplomacy” played a significant role in helping reach the ceasefire understanding and in strengthening the framework for ongoing talks.
The Iranian president stressed that the historical, religious, and fraternal ties between Pakistan and Iran should be further strengthened, adding that closer cooperation would contribute to peace and development across the region.
During the meeting, both sides also discussed bilateral relations, border cooperation, trade, regional security, and the evolving situation in the Middle East.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured Iran of Pakistan’s continued support for peaceful dialogue, diplomatic engagement, and efforts to reduce regional tensions.
He reiterated that Pakistan has consistently supported peaceful resolution of conflicts and will continue to pursue policies aimed at promoting stability and cooperation in the region.
The discussions come as diplomatic efforts intensify ahead of technical-level US-Iran talks in Switzerland, where Pakistan and Qatar are also expected to play a mediating role alongside other stakeholders.
