Brussels, Belgium – Web Desk: U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has warned that Washington is prepared to take further action if Iran fails to fulfill its commitments under the recently reached agreement with the United States.
Speaking after attending a NATO defense ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Hegseth said the agreement was achieved from a position of American strength and deterrence.
He stated that if Tehran does not comply with the terms of the understanding, the United States would be prepared to respond and could reimpose a strict and effective maritime blockade.
Hegseth emphasized that future implementation of the agreement would depend on Iran adhering to its commitments, adding that Washington remains ready to safeguard its interests and regional security objectives.
The U.S. defense chief also noted that several European countries are prepared to play a more active role in security and maritime operations in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route.
His remarks come amid ongoing international efforts to ensure stability in the Gulf region following recent diplomatic developments between Washington and Tehran.
