Laredo, Texas, United States – Web Desk: A small private jet crashed onto a highway in Laredo, Texas, killing at least one person, while swift action by bystanders helped save multiple passengers from the burning wreckage, according to local authorities and international news reports.
The aircraft reportedly carried six people when it went down on the roadway. Following the crash, motorists stopped their vehicles and rushed toward the scene, breaking cockpit windows and attempting to rescue those trapped inside the aircraft.
Authorities said it remains unclear whether the deceased individual was on board the plane or on the ground at the time of the accident. Officials have not yet released the identities or medical conditions of the survivors.
US media reported that five police officers were taken to hospital after being affected by smoke inhalation at the crash site.
According to flight tracking data, the aircraft was a Cessna Citation Latitude that had departed from Los Cabos International Airport in Mexico. The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.
The director of Laredo International Airport suggested the jet may have experienced a technical malfunction, although officials stressed that investigations are ongoing.
