Pakistan at UNSC Demands Immediate Diplomatic Solution to Middle East Tensions

Date:

UNITED NATIONS – Web Desk: Pakistan has once again reaffirmed its strong and consistent stance on global peace, regional stability, and peaceful resolution of conflicts during a UN Security Council meeting on non-proliferation, according to officials.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, warned that the recent escalation in the Middle East is taking a serious turn, which could become a threat not only to the region but to global peace and security. He said immediate, effective, and serious diplomatic steps are urgently needed, and if parties fail to show restraint and responsibility, the tensions could transform into a larger, wider crisis.

The ambassador noted that the current situation has also affected diplomatic progress on Iran’s nuclear matter, with the atmosphere of trust between parties having weakened. He stated that Pakistan has always considered dialogue and negotiations the only effective way to resolve issues, and has made continuous efforts alongside the international community and its partners to restore ceasefire and the negotiation process.

Ambassador Iftikhar noted that both parties expressed confidence in Pakistan and showed readiness for talks, enabling Islamabad to facilitate direct contact after several years. He urged all parties to give diplomacy another chance with patience, wisdom, and responsibility, as lasting peace and global security are only possible through negotiations and constructive dialogue.
