Dominican Republic – Web Desk: A private jet caught fire during an emergency landing at an airport in the Dominican Republic, resulting in the deaths of both the pilot and co-pilot, according to international media reports.

The aircraft, a U.S.-registered Gulfstream G200 jet, had reportedly declared an emergency due to a severe mechanical issue while en route to Austin, Texas. The flight was approximately 16 nautical miles southwest of La Romana when the distress call was made.

According to reports, there were no passengers or additional crew members on board at the time of the incident.

Video footage circulating on social media shows the aircraft engulfed in flames shortly after landing, with thick smoke rising from the runway. Emergency crews responded immediately and began firefighting operations.

Authorities said the aircraft lost control during landing, which led to the fire breaking out upon impact. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident.
