Wisconsin, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly ended a lengthy interview with NBC News’ “Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker following a tense exchange over election-related questions and media coverage.
According to reports, the interview lasted nearly 50 minutes and covered a range of issues, including the economy, foreign policy, and U.S. elections. Tensions escalated toward the end of the discussion when Welker questioned Trump’s claims regarding election irregularities in California’s primary elections.
Trump criticized several media organizations during the interview, accusing television networks of biased coverage. He said he had spent enough time answering questions and decided to conclude the interview.
As the discussion ended, Trump removed his microphone and left the interview location. Reports said he also briefly spoke to Welker before departing, expressing criticism of what he described as modern journalism practices.
The interview was recorded during Trump’s visit to Wisconsin, where adverse weather conditions and technical disruptions reportedly caused several interruptions throughout the conversation.
Following the broadcast, Welker wrote on social media that challenging weather conditions had complicated the interview process. She said the discussion nevertheless included extensive conversations on Iran, the economy, and other major issues.
Welker also revealed that she spoke with Trump again the following day and that both agreed the weather had affected the interview. According to her statement, Trump indicated he would be open to appearing on “Meet the Press” again in the future.
Later, speaking at a public event in Wisconsin, Trump acknowledged that he became frustrated during the interview, attributing his reaction to heavy rain and dissatisfaction with media coverage. He added that, despite the tense moments, the overall meeting was productive.
