Frankfurt, Germany – Web Desk: A serious ground incident occurred at Frankfurt Airport when a brand-new Boeing 787 aircraft suffered a sudden nose gear collapse during boarding operations, causing the aircraft to tip and sustain damage.
The aircraft, operated by Lufthansa, was positioned at Gate A15 and preparing for flight LH-450 to Los Angeles when the incident took place. The wide-body jet had joined the airline’s fleet around five months ago and completed its first commercial flight in January.
According to early details, only cabin crew and ground staff were onboard at the time of the accident. The collapse of the nose landing gear caused the aircraft to drop abruptly while passengers were still in the boarding process.
The aircraft involved was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner Boeing 787 Dreamliner, known for its long-haul operations. Emergency response teams were immediately dispatched to the scene at Frankfurt Airport.
A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed that several individuals sustained minor injuries. Two cabin crew members and multiple ground handling staff were taken to hospital for medical checks and treatment.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the nose gear failure and assess whether technical or operational factors contributed to the incident.
