Supreme Court Upholds Death Sentence in Noor Mukadam Murder Case

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Supreme Court has dismissed the review petition filed by Zahir Jaffer in the high-profile Noor Mukadam murder case, upholding his death sentence.

A three-member bench comprising Justice Hashim Kakar, Justice Salahuddin Panhwar, and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim announced the verdict after concluding hearings on the review appeal.

During the proceedings, Jaffer’s counsel acknowledged the injustice suffered by Noor Mukadam and expressed regret before her family. The defense argued that the central issue was the convict’s mental condition at the time of the crime and during the trial. However, the lawyer did not dispute Jaffer’s involvement in the murder.

After hearing the arguments, the Supreme Court rejected the review petition and maintained the death sentence previously awarded to Zahir Jaffer, bringing a significant legal chapter in one of Pakistan’s most widely followed criminal cases to a close.
