WASHINGTON – Web Desk: President Donald Trump has announced a new timeline for a ceasefire agreement with Iran, stating that the United States has come very close to reaching a deal that could be finalized within days — possibly by the end of this week.
Speaking to journalists in the White House Oval Office, Trump said negotiations between the US and Iran are progressing rapidly in a positive direction. He emphasized that nothing can be ruled out in dealings with Iran, as the Middle East is the world’s most unstable region, but despite the complexity, talks are continuing encouragingly.
Trump clarified that the core point of negotiations is Iran’s commitment to never obtain, develop, or seek to purchase nuclear weapons. He reiterated US military capability, stating that if America wanted, it could continue military operations for another two or three weeks and destroy everything in Iran — but that is not the preferred path.
The President expressed his desire to resolve the issue through diplomacy rather than war, achieving the same results through a written agreement that could be obtained through military action. He noted that the majority of the US administration also wants to end the conflict with Iran through negotiations and agreement to avoid further loss of life.
