Washington, United States – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has said he expects a potential agreement with Iran to be reached within the next week, expressing optimism over ongoing diplomatic efforts.
In an interview with US media, Trump stated that under a prospective deal, the current ceasefire framework could be extended and maritime access through the Strait of Hormuz may be reopened for international shipping.
The US president also said that negotiations with Iran were progressing rapidly, despite Tehran’s earlier decision to suspend indirect communications. He added that the pause in messaging did not signal a return to military action.
Trump further remarked that the United States would maintain its current maritime pressure strategy on Iran and wait for conditions that could lead to a mutually acceptable agreement, describing the approach as “firm and strategic.”
The statements come amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where energy security and shipping routes remain central geopolitical concerns.
