Israeli Prime Minister Orders Military to Intensify Strikes on Hezbollah in Beirut

Date:

Beirut, Lebanon – Web Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered the military to intensify strikes on Hezbollah positions in Beirut, particularly in the southern suburbs of Dahiyeh, amid rising tensions despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

According to international media reports, Netanyahu directed Israeli forces to target alleged Hezbollah strongholds, stating that the group cannot be allowed to attack Israeli cities while maintaining what he described as “safe terrorist infrastructure” in Beirut.

In a video statement, the Israeli prime minister said Hezbollah was being pushed back through ongoing operations in southern Lebanon and claimed that Israeli forces had made significant territorial advances, including the capture of strategic positions.

Israel maintains that Hezbollah has repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement reached in April, alleging rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel and assaults on its forces, prompting renewed strikes in Beirut’s southern districts.

Hezbollah has rejected these claims, saying Israeli operations violate the spirit of the ceasefire and risk escalating the conflict into a broader regional war.

The Lebanese government has condemned the Israeli strikes, stating that thousands have been killed and over one million people displaced since the escalation of hostilities began. Israel, meanwhile, says its military operations have also resulted in casualties among its troops and civilians.

The ceasefire, brokered with U.S. mediation in April, remains officially in place despite continued accusations of violations from both sides.
